You Don't Need A Lot of Faith

I Light LLC, Therapy Blog- You Don't Need A Lot of Faith

While I was guiding a workshop focused on the theme: leaning on faith and creativity as the foundation to "let things go" I thought I had it all planned. Everything from the opening, the art experiential and the closing. All along I thought about the relationship between creativity and faith, both being aspects to make one feel vulnerable and practicing trust especially in time of confusion or when things aren't working out you had planned in life. In my mind I was so focused on cultivating a practice of living with more hope and faith within the workshop I had forgotten about the power and strength of something so small as a mustard seed or in this case"little faith." A lesson unbeknownst to me was about to reveal itself.

During the opening and closing I had read from Matthew 6: 26-34 where it states in verse 30, "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"

"O you of little faith"

During that closing, someone stated their "aha" moment and while laughing she explained it's not about living a life full of faith, because all you need is a little faith.

Maybe I had gotten my idea that the phrase, "O you of little faith" was belittling, because I had thought the more faith you cultivated in life the easier it is to trust this process. When in fact I learned my unexpected lesson.

Lesson learned: little faith is not a demonstration of a lack of trust, faith-no matter what amount- is literally all you need even the most minute amount of faith holds an immense amount of gratitude, power and trust.

Little faith is enough.

Faith, whether described in turns of practicing faith in a spiritual sense through a relationship with God, or the act of having faith in believing, having hope and trust in yourself, others and life, in the long run it doesn't matter how much faith you have, as long as it's there.

At the end of the day all you need is a little faith.
